Someone close to so many people died suddenly last week, and like so many others - things just haven't been right. Only 51, Dan was a real Hamilton icon' larger than just the musical community he thrived in. Everyone gasped, such a thing - a heart full of life, suddenly stopped beating.
When someone is able to foster such a bedrock of relations in his community, the devestation of the event has caused a collective shutter, and an empty feeling that is impossible to fill.
In the grand scope of it all, we were not peers. Dan was a dyed-in-the-wool rock star, a brilliant engineer and producer. He was constantly scoping talent and offering his sweat equity in the name of the greater cause. He was a teacher, a friend and a mentor to so many.
I am glad to just have known him.
Life is precious. It's for living - a reminder to us all.
